COLLECTIVE MONDAY UPDATE – April 12, 2010

SOMEONE WHO'LL WATCH OVER ME:
- The Collective is still on the lookout for traditional and/or non-traditional spaces for our upcoming production of SOMEONE.
- The productions model is to run on free performances on Sunday evenings, generating revenue via bar/donations. The goal for this production is long-term: to raise awareness about The Collective, our work, our talent and our process. We will be opening up rehearsals to all members to experience first-hand the show you are producing and to enable you to better spread the word about the work that's happening. OUR MEMBERSHIP IS OUR BIGGEST ASSET AND PROMOTIONAL TOOL AND THE HOPE IS THAT OVER AN 8-10 WEEK PERIOD THIS WILL ONLY GROW THE BUZZ AND INTEREST IN THE PRODUCTION.
- In order for everyone to be involved and invested, PDFs of the full play, Someone Who'll Watch Over Me will be available via email. If anyone needs a printed copy please contact: Victoria Dicce or Lisa K.
- As the production gets underway, volunteer/job opportunities will be announced. The production team will be reaching out to members, but if for any reason you have not been contacted or have an idea please reach out directly to Victoria Dicce, Nina Mehta or Jeff Berg.
-
Tentative first show date: mid-May with previews/open rehearsals in April/May.

VIRGINS AND SLUTS:
- Our first writing challenge is underway and in its third and final phase, which will culminate in a presentation late May.
- There will be 10 or more short plays that will need actors, directors and production support in the next six weeks.
- This is an opportunity for MANY Collective members to be involved, and specific roles (on stage and off) will be announced in the next week.
- If you are interested in participating in the next cycle, please contact thecollective9@gmail.com.

360:
- The Collective is currently developing a film version of our smash 2009 stage production "360" using both The Collective's own stage adaptation "360" and Schnitzler's original "La Ronde" as source material.
- The next meeting to discuss ideas and next steps will be announced shortly.

COLLECTIVE MONDAY - MARCH 28, 2010

Reminder: This Blog will be our main source for communication between the members. Some members brought up that they didn't always check the blog consistently, so we are still investigating the use of message boards for either the Blog or the Website as a way to better communicate with one another, share casting postings, etc. As always, thoughts and suggestions should be sent to:thecollective9@gmail.com or brought up to a board member at any time.
  1. Board Meetings and Open Board
    • Last Monday's (March 22nd) open board meeting was very productive; began the discussion surrounding feedback and language for providing observations during Collective Mondays
    • Please continue to keep this conversation going; if you have thoughts, comments and/or questions please bring it up in Monday meetings or email: thecollective9@gmail.com
    • The regularly scheduled Collective board meetings take place every Monday; it is always open for proposals and presentations. If you do intend to propose something please inform a board member (listed below) prior to the meeting so enough time is allotted for the presentation.
    • Board Members: Victoria Dicce, Robert Grant, Kevin Kane, Brian Leider, Nina Mehta and Lisa K.

  2. Someone Who'll Watch Over Me
    • The production is in rehearsals at this time.
    • Space: last week our top 3 potential spots fell through but we continue to search for traditional and non-traditional and/or found space
    • IF ANY MEMBER HAS ANY IDEAS/SUGGESTIONS REGARDING SPACE GET IN TOUCH WITH A MEMBER OF THE PRODUCTION TEAM (V.Dicce, N. Mehta or J.Berg)

  3. Upcoming Productions
    • We have an abundance of performance and directing opportunities coming up soon. Virgins and Sluts is in its second 30-day cycle and will provide opportunities for 20 or more Collective actors to take the stage. The proposed Craig McNulty event will also need actors. If you are interested in taking part on the acting or production side, please stay tuned and present and above all refer back to the blog as it will have the most updated information.
